The Beatles, Yellow Submarine
Directed by George dunning
Artists The beatles
Year released: 1966
The music video for Yellow Submarine is not industry standard. it follows very little conventions of previous Beatle music videos. The music video is created using an animated style. much like The Simpsons or Charlie Brown. The submarine interior is utterly Bizarre. It’s larger inside then the submarine appears on the outside. Characters movements and facial features are not in any way realistic. the submarine itself acts in such a way that you start to believe it’s alive and it’s sentient

shakira waka waka
directed marcus raboy
date released 2010
video is intercut with broadcasts of the world cup. this is hardly groundbreaking as several other songs did this years before waka waka come out. the title of the song is african for “do it” and the lyrics of the song include African phrases and the language. African instruments are also present in the background of the music video aswell as the song. classic conventions of music videos are present including camera cuts and instruments playing. the song itself was selected as the world cups anthem which is incredibly rare too see. the visuals easily match the theme of the song as they the screen is filled up with bright colours, which connotes a sense of excitement, this is also a convention of other pop songs. visual techniques used camera cuts aswell as a range of different shots including, but not limited to, wide shot, medium shot, opening shot, close up.
